About."For as long as I can remember, I've had a desire to make and design things, a composer of never ending ideas and continual exploration.”
Barb was born in Vancouver, BC and has been in the art world since she was a little girl surrounded and inspired by a family of artists. She worked for decades as an ER nurse and in disaster planning although creativity has always remained a part of her life. She works in her home studio most of the year but come summer she heads to her larger studio on her family's rural property. The studio looks out onto an old growth forest where wildlife abounds providing a sanctuary with an endless supply of inspiration for her to create and never get bored. Her past series has included her wildlife series inspired from her African travels, her Railways and Structure series which are portrayed beyond a realistic viewpoint and when you look deep into these pieces you may find hidden phrases, equations and reflections of gold. Her new series 'Liquidity' will be released in May 2022. A contemporary technique using liquid flow to create explosions of colour, depth and design. Over the decades she has curated several galleries, shows and events. She has done both solo and group shows across the continent, including NYC. A recipient of numerous awards of recognition, member of the WAC, AiOM, Artists of Canada and in 2021 she was awarded Signature Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists. Here I am at the age of 9 working on my first big piece.
